EXPLORERS TOP CRUISERS
PARIS, Indiana -- Leo Looper scored 17 points to lead the Explorers to a 51-42 win over the Cruisers last night at the Paris Rec Center. Leo hit a pair of three-pointers and hauled down 12 rebounds. Point guard Natalie Bottle dished out 7 assists to go with 3 steals. The Explorers' next game is this Saturday against the undefeated High Flyers.
LIGHTNING WIN OPENER
OMAHA, Nebraska -- The Omaha Youth Majors spring football league is underway, with all games being played at the Missouri Valley field. The Lightning won the season opener over the Blasters by a 34-20 score. Quarterback Chris Rivera ran for two scores and threw a pair of touchdown passes to wide receiver Zach Fargo. Fargo also had a pick six for the game's final score. The Lightning's next game is Friday against the Posse.
WORLD CUP RETURNS TO IOWA!
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Carlos Diaz once again hosted the World Cup in his family's basement rec room. Countries from six continents (Antarctica doesn't have a team) sent teams to Nishnabotna, Iowa for the annual soccer tournament. Defending champion Mexico is expected to face stiff competition from Germany, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, and the United States. Diaz reports that, unfortunately, all tickets to this popular soccer event have been sold out for months.
